Political and social satire
was already a well known form of comedy by the 5th
century. Later, court jesters were the only ones who could
safely criticize their king, but the privilege depended
upon command of an argument combined with nimbleness of
wit. Todd Butler merely continues the long tradition of
using clever good humour to help us see matters from
another perspective.
The wordplay and commentary
alone would be enough to make Butler a humorist of note,
but his grasp of musical comedy not to mention mastery of
guitar, puts him in a new category.
Todd Butler takes very old
satirical traditions and blends them with a taste of
Vaudevillian performance to give you a walloping 21st
century package.
